Symbolic Butterfly Migration

Oh this is just too cool!! We are definitely going to participate in this thing!

Symbolic Butterfly Migration <--- click those words to go to the site
Each child can make and send in a paper butterfly (they even have a template that you can print) and then you follow them on a map to watch them "migrate" They get sent to Mexico where the real monarch butterflies go. Children in Mexico will then take care of your butterflies over the winter and in the spring (typically by Cinco de Mayo) they send you other butterflies back from all over the USA and Canada. You can send in as many as you want and track their progress on a map. The also have tons of videos and lesson plans that go along with learning about monarchs and their migration. Butterflies must be sent in by October 14th.
